   I once saw a picture of the Rav, he was extremely distinguished looking, down to the Rizhiner payos.
   Why was he buried in Scranton as appose to the cemetery in Wilkes-Barre?

   Yes he had children but according to what he writes in the Hakdoma to his Sefer Divrei M’haraz they didn’t follow his path.

   Ben Bee Zee:
   The Rav is buried in the Dalton Jewish Cemetery which is just outside (around 15-20 min) of Scranton. The Dalton Cemetery has and still is the cemetery of choice for local Scrantoners. On the other hand Wilkes-Barre, PA which has its own cemetery is around 40 min from Dalton.

   I followed the link provided by Ben Bee Zee and I discovered something interesting there. There is a haskamah from Rav Avrohom Aaron Yudelevitz, and he is referred to as Rav Hakolel L’Agudas HaKehillos. Which I found interesting, because I was always under the impression that RJJ was the first and last.

   I belive that this Rabbi (Zalman-or solomon) Baurer might be my great grandfather. He emigrated to the US in 1920 and died around 1954. He lived in Wilkes-Barre but when he and his wife became elderly, they moved into the Jewish home in Scranton.

    If indeed he is your great grandfather and towards the end of his life moved to the Jewish Home in Scranton, it would explain why he was buried in Scranton an not Wilkes-Barre.

    It appears that the Jewish Home is still up and running, give them a call, perhaps they can help you.

    I visited the home a few years ago. My father was looking for many years to find his grave in Wilkes Berra but later someone from Scranton told him that he’s buried in Scranton because he was in the home in Scranton, he then contacted the cemetery and was assured of the exact place of his burial. So we traveled all the way to Scranton and we first visited the Jewish Home we spoke there with an old yid R’ Shmiel Tzvi Mendelowitz U”H who was a cousin to Reb Shraga Feivel (RSH”F lived in Scranton prior to coming to NY, he has a son buried there), this Mendelowitz remembered Reb Zalman. We went out on the cemetery and we recited Tehilim and we should hope that we did a great thing for him and for us.

    He also was a contributor to Kerem Bais Shmuel, the journal of the Alexandrere yeshivos. In his writings there he tells some amazing stories from Tchortkov, and it sounds as if he was born there. He also discusses minhogim etc.
    Also is described as being a leader of Agudas Horabonim
