   ר’ מרדכי ארי’ האבערמאן נולד לאביו ר’ שמחה בראווא רוסקא שהיה ת”ח מופלג (ומביא בספרו כמה ענינים מאביו).
   כשהגיע לפרקו נשא את מרת רבקה לאה בת הרה”ג רש יצחק צבי הלוי אבדק”ק וואהנילוב ונכדת הגאון בעל נבל עשור ומנחה קטנה.
   למד אצל ר’ דובעריש ראפאפורט הראב”ד ד”ק ראווא-רוסקא ובעמח”ס דרך המלך על הרמב”ם, ואצל דודו ר’ נתן האבענשטרייט רבדק”ק פשעמישל, ונסמך מהם להוראה, כן זכה לעמוד על המבחן אצל ר’ יצחק שמעלקיס בעל הבית יצחק, שסמכו ותלה בו עתידות נפלאה להיות כאחד מגדולי ישראל והוא היה עדיין בן אחד עשר שנים, וכן נסמך מהגאון רא”ז ברוידע מלעמבערג.
   בשנת תרס”ט נתקבל לרב בעיר גאליגארא שבגאליציע, בפרוץ מלחה”ע הראשונה הוכרח לעזוב את העיר את האבנות, ומתוך נדודים הגיע לעיר וויען וקבע שם מקומו, ונמנה שם לדיין ומו”צ וסגן הבד”צ של הקהלה (קולטוס געמיינדע), סידר שם גיטין וקדושין שהיה נפרצה מאוד בעיר המרכזית, וביחוד עסק בשאלת העגונות, כאשר התחילה לסעור מלחה”ע השני’ הגיע לאמעריקא ע”י השתדלותו של הגאון ר’ שמואל גערשטנפעלד ר”מ בישיבת רבינו יצחק אלחנן שהשתדל הרבה לטובתו, פה קבע משכנו בבראנזוויל נוא יארק, ושמש שם כרב דחבורת רעים אהובים ורב דחבורת מחזיקי הדת, עד יומו האחרון ער”ח סיון שנת תש”ה.
   השאיר אחריו כת”י בחידושי תורה ואחר פטירתו השתדלו חבורת שומעי לוקחיו (Rabbi Haberman’s Sefer Committee) בראשית הרב יוסף בערנשטיין שמש עמו בחברי דבי דינא בוויען, והוציאו לאור הספר מראה החודש על הלכות קידוש החודש להרמב”ם, וליתר קוים לדמותו ואישיותו המיוחדת עי’ בפתיחת ספרו.

   Rabbi Sholom Hecht (from Hecht’s Book Store on Coney Island Avenue ) told me that he knew him in his youth when he was growing up in Brownsville and he was known to be a tremendous talmid chochom. Rabbi Hecht also told me that Rav Ahron Shechter from Mesivta Chaim Berlin apparently knew him as well.

   The manuscripts above relegated to Harav Hagaon Mordechai Aryeh Haberman ZTL” (my grandfather), were studiously and assiduously transliterated via typewriter from the original handwritten Hebrew by my father, Rabbi Jacob Hirsch Haberman whose handwriting I instantly recognized on the title page.
