Ben Bee Zee on November 13, 2011 at 5:02 pm R’ Tzimon was first Rabbi for a few years in Lowell, Massachusetts before he came to Syracuse (Where he held my current position…). It looks like he was a very strong and revered Rabbi. His father Reb Yozfa was a Rabbe in Russia his Sefer Tochachas Megila http://hebrewbooks.org/2711 was printed in NY 1917 by one of his children. He himself went up to Israel I’m not sure if he returned or he died there. yakov on November 15, 2011 at 11:38 pm the sefer tochachas megulah was printed once in Yerushalayim by the mechaber R’ Yozfa, and second ny his son R’ Mattes in NY 1917. he writes thats his father printed this sefer while he was in Israel. so it seems that he returned to Russia. on a biography on R’ Yozfa’s daughter it says that he was an einikel of Tzadikei Cheronbyl. yakov on November 15, 2011 at 11:46 pm here is a biography on the 2 brothers: http://www.hebrewbooks.org/pdfpager.aspx?req=41513&st=&pgnum=30 Ben Bee Zee on November 16, 2011 at 12:49 pm Where do you have the biography of his daughter? yakov on November 22, 2011 at 2:35 pm http://www.tidhar.tourolib.org/tidhar/view/4/1866 yakov on November 22, 2011 at 2:35 pm here you have the biography of his daughter: http://www.tidhar.tourolib.org/tidhar/view/4/1866 Farshlufen on November 23, 2011 at 9:41 am על ר’ צבי הירש ציימאהן http://www.hebrewbooks.org/pdfpager.aspx?req=36602&pgnum=383 Farshlufen on November 23, 2011 at 10:11 am Syracuse Post Standard Sunday 20OCT1918 page 6 col 5 Rabbi M. Eric Zaiman on December 15, 2011 at 12:33 am yacov – you mentioned in your post on Nov. 15 that R’ Yosef Yuzpa’s Tocheches Megulah was first published in Yerushalayim. Do you know if there is a copy of that version extant? I was hoping that that version might have some additional information on R’ Yosef Yuzpa (e.g. his father, where he learned, smichos etc.) thanks. yacov on January 22, 2012 at 2:58 pm here is a link the the Yerushalyim edition: http://www.hebrewbooks.org/37883 it doesn’t have any additional info on R’ Yuzfa.
